Key Words: CovenantA solemn agreement between two parties for the

purpose of creating and maintaining relationships.

Take Away:

  • Relationship with God changes our perspective of our relationships with others.
  • There is fruit to intentional commitment but there is fall out from empty promises.
  • The biggest covenant we can break is our covenant with the Father.
  • The strength of your covenant with God will be evident in the strength of your marriage, family and church.

Let’s Talk:

Have you ever made a deal with someone that never intended on keeping

their end of the bargain? (car deal, work contract, lease agreement etc…)

What were some of the emotions you felt when they didn’t honor

the agreement?

Did you keep your part of the agreement even though they

did not?

Let’s Think:  The biggest covenant we can break is breaking it with the

Father.

We break covenant with God when we…

  1. Deem a covenant with some-one else more important than our covenant with God.
  • Deem a covenant with some-thing more important that our covenant with God.
  • Have you allowed some-one or some-thing to become more important than your relationship with God?

Going Deeper:

The strength of your covenant with God will be evident in the strength of

your covenant with your marriage, family, and church. In other words, the

strength of your relationship with God (or lack thereof) will be reflected in

your relationship with others.

  • If you want a better marriage, focus on your relationship with God.
  • If you want a better family, focus on your relationship with God.
  • If you want a better church, focus on your relationship with God.

The key to any relationship is to focus on your relationship with God.

How is your relationship with the Father?

How are your relationships with others?

Walk It Out:

In your daily time with God, read the book of Hosea. You can read a chapter

a day until you are finished. (14 chapters = 14 days) As you read, ask God to

teach you about covenant relationships. Write down in your journal each

day what God shows you.
